Good morning band! Next Thursday is a big day for us! It is district concert MPA at Vero beach high school. We have been preparing diligently, and I know no mater what, we will be successful! Here is what you need to know for the day of!
- Attire is concert black. Please make sure you are detail oriented in your preparation! Iron your clothes, wear dress socks, black belts and over all just make sure you are looking your best! - We will be at Vero during dinner time. They will have a concession stand, please make sure to bring a few bucks to eat dinner! We will be leaving after lunch at school, so please make sure to eat before we leave. We will have snacks and water with us, but not full on meals. - All students will ride the buses with us, except for unavoidable circumstances, in which students can meet us at Vero or leave early with parental approval. Here is the schedule for the day! - 12:00pm - call time in the band room - 12;30pm - depart pslhs - 1:30pm- arrive at Vero beach high school. Symphonic band will unload and prepare for warm up. Wind ensemble will enter the auditorium to watch bands perform. - 2:30pm - symphonic band performs - 3:30pm - Symphonic band will join wind ensemble in the auditorium to continue watching other bands. At this point, students in symphonic band may be picked up by their parents if need be. Please check in with Mr. Wiley before leaving. - 5:00pm - dinner break - 5:45pm - both bands into auditorium - 6:15pm - wind ensemble to unload for warm up - 7:30pm - wind ensemble performance -8:15pm - both bands load - 8:30pm - depart VBHS - 9:15pm - arrive at pslhs and unload 9:30pm - dismissal

Good morning band family! Happy President’s Day! I hope you are enjoying your weekend and have done something fun :) Thanks again to the students that are going out of their way to assist at Southport and giving extra time for the band! Here is what to expect for this week.
- Tuesday - Wind ensemble 2-4pm - Wednesday - Southport day! We are traveling to Southport during the school day to perform for them! All students will be excused from school between 9:00am and 12::30pm. Please be in the band room by 9am in your marching band attire. We will be back on campus by noon, and then will eat lunch. After you eat, you will head back to class for the remainder of the day. Also on Wednesday, there will be freshman open house that evening! They would like the band to play from 5:45-6:00pm as freshman arrive in the gym. Please arrive by 5pm in your band polo! After you are dismissed, I will need about 5 leadership members to stick around and assist with the band table! This will end around 7pm. - Thursday - Symphonic band 2-4 and color guard 2:30-5:00pm. - Next week (March 2nd) is concert MPA week at Vero beach high school! A detailed itinerary will be published tomorrow. - Also next week on Tuesday, 2/28, we will be doing our annual band family pre-mpa dinner concert! This will be at 6pm in our cafeteria for Members of the symphonic band and wind ensemble and their families! Come on out for free food and to hear all the hard work your students have been doing before the real thing on Thursday! Here is the news for this week! - Monday and Thursday is winter guard 2:30-5:00pm.
- State solo and ensemble is going to be on Tuesday March 21st at Wellington high school. The winter guard, percussion ensemble, and various soloists that for a superior on a grade 5 or higher at solo and ensemble will be going! We will be taking a bus down there. - Wind ensemble has an important clinician rehearsal with Mr. Casey Lunceford this Tuesday from 2-FIVE. This time change is only for this rehearsal. - Percussion ensemble will practice after school on Wednesday. Everyone will be there 2-3, where only members of the percussion ensemble will stay 3-4pm. - Thursday symphonic band has an important clinician rehearsal with Mr. hall from 2-4pm. This one has not been extended. - There are two band trip payments left. The total balance is due by the final payment date of April 7th. This is $475 per student, and $900 for student with chaperone. - This Friday, Southport is having an MPA “practice palooza” from 4-8pm. Dinner and ice cream will be given out. Certain students will be needed to lead sectionals. Those students will be approached individually. - Next Wednesday, February 22nd, we will be having our Southport recruitment concert during the school day. We will be gone for a majority of 3rd and 5th period, and be returning to school before 7th period. - Also on Wednesday is freshman open house! We will be asking leadership to play stands music as students are walking in, but the whole band is encouraged to attend. Drumline is needed as well. 5pm call time, play for 10 minutes from 5:50-6pm. Sorry for being a little absent minded the past few weeks when it came to the band, the musical has taken up so much of my time and energy, and although it was amazing, I’m certainly excited to put it in the rear view mirror and get back to focusing on everything else! Here’s the news for this week.
- Huge congrats to the Anything Goes Pit Orchestra! They officially made it through the January gauntlet and at the end of the day will have performed the show 14 times not counting rehearsals! Very proud of how amazing they are! - Winter guard is back to practicing this week, on Monday and Thursday 2:30-5:00pm. - JAZZ band will rehearse on Tuesday, 2-4pm, NOT wind ensemble. - Wednesday is Jazz Band MPA! Jazz students will go directly to the band room after school where we will warm up, load up, and car pool over to centennial. Our performance time is 4pm and free to the Public if anyone would like to come hear us! - Thursday will be symphonic band 2-4pm. - The 3rd band trip payment was due last Friday, bringing the total collected to $275.
