Good morning band family. I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day so far. I’d like to congratulate our students again on a fine performance last night! The show is getting better and better, each performance moves us closer and closer to our goal!
I’d like to thank our amazing band parents and leadership for stepping up big yesterday at the showcase to ensure that everything happened. Things did not happen as they should have, and you all stepped up to save the day, and it just shows that the pslhs band family is truly the best around! I appreciate you all! Moving forward, it is the LAST WEEK of the official marching band season, as well as homecoming week! Crazy to think it’s here. Let’s have two more solid rehearsals and make this show all that it can be. I KNOW you will do it. Here is what to expect this week. - Tuesday and Thursday will be normally scheduled marching band rehearsals. 2:30-5:00pm. Thursday is the seniors last marching rehearsal! - Wednesday we will have optional sectional time for any section that wants to practice after school. - Wednesday is also Jag challenge, which is a super fun school wide event for homecoming! Our band will be playing at this event, and call time will be 5pm. Please wear your band polos, and black pants. The band room will be open after school on Wednesday. This event will wrap up by 8pm and students can be picked up in the student parking lot! - Friday is the homecoming football game, and also alumni night!! This will be our final home game of the season. Call time will be 5pm. Details regarding this game will come out Tuesday. - Saturday is the big day!!! Marching band MPA. This event is the final evaluation of the hundreds of hours of work we’ve put in this season! We perform at 4:40pm at Jensen beach high school. A detailed itinerary will be published tomorrow. Our call time will be at 11:00am at the school! Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns! Have a wonderful day. Good morning, band family! I apologize for this coming out later, there was some shifting around of what's happening on the game, and I wanted to make absolute certain I was providing you the correct information.
The major change to the game schedule is we will be performing our show PRE GAME, at 6:40pm. This is because they are moving the Senior Night Ceremony to half time as opposed to pregame like in the past. There is a large number of seniors this year between football, band, and cheerleading, and the administrators decided they wanted more time for the ceremony, and to allow more parents to be in the stands for it. We are hoping that all of our supporters can make it to the stadium by 6:40pm in order to see our show!! If you can not, you can catch it on Saturday at the SLC Marching Band Showcase!! Tickets purchased on ticketspicket.com, just search Port St. Lucie High School. We perform at 7pm! Senior students and their escorts will report to the track BEFORE halftime begins, approximately at 8:15pm. During halftime, our band will be cheering loud and proud for you! We are looking for parent volunteers! Please let us know if you can volunteer to chaperone :) Parent Chaperones - Home game, 10/21/22 (microsoft.com) Here is the schedule below: 5:00pm - call time in band underwear (show shirt, black shorts, high black socks, marching shoes) Bring your uniforms. 5:10pm - section warm up 5:30pm - Full band warm up 6:20pm - transition to starting show position. 6:40pm - Full Show - Fireborn 6:55pm - National anthem 7:00pm - kick off! 8:15pm - Senior Night Ceremony 9:45pm - Dismissal Good morning! This is Saturday, October 22nd, is the 5th annual St. Lucie County Marching Band Showcase! This is an event where the high school marching bands in SLC can perform their shows for the community and receive valuable feedback before the MPA! Also, middle school students from around the county will have a chance to perform with the high school students and see what marching band is all about! The event begins at 6:25pm, with gates opening at 5:45pm. Tickets must be purchased at the following link:

Students need to eat lunch before arriving, and remember to bring their money for the dinner break if they selected an option from the survey last week. Executive leadership will assist with the arrival of other bands, guiding them where to go. 2:00pm - report back to the stadium. 2:30pm - mass band rehearsal with all middle and HS students 4:00pm - dinner break 5:15pm - change into uniform 6:15pm - report for mass band performance on field 6:30pm - report to warm up 7:00pm - transition for performance 7:10pm - perform! 7:30pm - load equipment back into band room/put hats and bibbers back into the band room. 8:00pm - watch final bands 8:45pm - assist other bands with equipment and exit. 9:00pm - dismissal. Good afternoon band family! Once again I want to congratulate you all on overcoming tremendous obstacle to put a very respectable performance on the field for a very early Crown Jewel! I’m so proud of the work you’ve done, and I’m excited for the work you will continue to do!
I would like to give a very special thank you to all the band parents and volunteers who accompanied us on Saturday. It was a long day, and you all were fantastic every step of the way! We truly cannot do what we do without you, and for that I am very appreciative!! Pslhs band parents are the BEST. Period. Now that we have crown jewel in our rear view mirror, we will be moving full steam ahead to the SLC showcase on October 22nd, and Marching Music Performance Assessment on October 29th. We will likely keep rehearsals from 2:30-5pm for the remainder of the season, unless we have some more major weather concerns. - Pass offs are due by Thursday! This is your chance to make sure you finish the quarter with the best grade possible. I’m here to help, so please don’t hesitate to ask. - Based on the responses from the band, it seems a majority of you would rather have Friday off, so we will not be going to the football game. Don’t fret, we have another away game planned on November 4th! Also, we will be likely planning a fun optional band event Friday afternoon so stay tuned!! - Marching Band Showcase is next Saturday, the 22nd!! It is at our home stadium. Things happen that we can’t control, and that is life. The major concept to remember - it’s how you respond that makes the true difference.
We can March and play 90% of our show, and there are many great moments (some of the best I’ve ever heard from the band in my time at pslhs). With the time we have this week. I KNOW we can make a full AMAZING run through happen by Saturday. Now, let’s put eyes forward, and have the most focused week we can! There are a few changes, so please read carefully! It will be a busy month ahead. Welcome to bandtober! - A notable change is THIS Tuesday and Thursdays practices will be ending at 6pm. This will allow us to make up 2 hours of lost time. Please plan to make adjustments to be there the full rehearsal. Thanks so much for all the flexibility from parents and students! In the end of the season, it will all be worth it. - There will be an optional woodwind sectional tomorrow from 1:45-3:00pm to work on the runs at 194. They’re getting better! This change is because there’s no school on Wednesday. - There is no school Wednesday due to a fall holiday. - Friday is a Home football game! Call time will be 5pm in the band room! A detailed schedule, including what you will need, will be published tomorrow. - Saturday is Crown Jewel!! Our performance time is 4:00pm at Vero Beach High School! Band students will have a call time of 10:30 for a continuity warm up. A detailed schedule including all information you need to know for the day will be published tomorrow morning. Students will be obligated from 10:30am to about 10pm. This is a huge competition day! - Attached to the schedule for the home football game, and crown jewel, will be links for parent volunteers to sign up for chaperoning, so be on the look out for that if you are interested! We would like to have 10 chaperones for each of these events. Thanks so much to all who have chaperoned so far this year! Your help is greatly appreciated and crucial to our bands success! - Show shirts and polos are all in, if you are a parent who purchased either or both for $15, they are ready to be distributed to your students. We have some extra show shirts and band polos for $15 each if anyone else would like to purchase one! Please reach out to me if you have questions! I can’t wait for this week band, and for you to feel the results of your hard work. No matter what happens, I am so proud of you, and you are one heck of a band. Let’s do this!!
