Good morning band, here is the student roster for the wind ensemble. This is NOT in any particular chair order. The following students should ensure that they are signed up for 6th period band. The class will be called instrumental ensemble. Since it is a new class, EVERYONE will be in instrumental ensemble 1. Keep in mind, incoming freshman have not auditioned yet, and more may be added to this list.

That time of year is upon us! It is time to gear up and get ready for next years marching season! In this post, you will find any necessary information to prepare for your audition and/or your leadership interview!
Interviews: Who has to interview? Anyone who is planning to go out for a leadership position must complete an interview! These will be held in Mr. Wiley's office during your band class (even days Monday and Wednesday, odd days Tuesday and Thursday) at a designated time. Your time slot will be posted in the band room tomorrow morning. How should I prepare? All leadership candidates should be expected to know the duties of the position(s) you are applying for. All candidates must dress professionally for their interview and expect to answer questions that revolve around what your expectations are to better the band program. Auditions: Who has to audition? Not all leadership candidates have to complete an audition. Only those seeking to be on executive leadership (Drum Major, Band Captain, or 1st and 2nd Lieutenant), or a section leader/section captain must complete an audition. You will find the requirements for your auditions below. Drum Major Auditions: Drum Major auditions will be held in the PLSHS Band Room on Monday, May 14th from 2:00pm-3:00pm. During this audition, you must conduct a prepared piece of your choosing, sight analyze a score provided to you, and must perform marching fundamentals and teach marching fundamentals. Read below. Executive Leadership Auditions: Executive Leadership Auditions will be held in the PSLHS Band Room on Tuesday, May 15th from 2:00pm - 5;00pm. Your audition time will be posted in the PSLHS Band Room tomorrow morning. This audition will be judged based on 3 categories: Performing Marching Fundamentals, Teaching Marching Fundamentals, and Playing. Performing Marching Fundamentals - Executive Leadership Candidates will be asked to demonstrate basic marching skills. Be prepared to demonstrate from the following commands - ( You should prepare all, but will be asked to perform 5)
Playing - All executive leadership candidates will have to play major scales on their instruments. You will be performing 3 major scales from the following list: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, G, D, A. Your scales should be in pass-off rhythm with arpeggios. Bonus points will be applied to candidates who can perform scales in more than 1 octave. Section Leader Auditions: Section Leader auditions will be held in the PSLHS Band Room on Tuesday, May 15th from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Playing - It is important for the percussion captain to be able to demonstrate and play on all of the percussion instruments. You will be expected to perform all required material from the audition packed given to you by Mr. Cromer. Demonstrating a Sectional Plan - Leading sectionals will be a very large part of the percussion captain job. During your audition, you will have to give a verbal plan outlining your ideal sectional. This will be asked interview style. Good evening! I hope that those of you who went on the band trip have had time to recover! It was certainly a long day, but a whole lot of fun!
Now looking forward, it’s Spectrum week!! Make sure to share the Facebook event and tell everyone you know about the concert! We’d love to have a full audience to see how awesomely you all have prepared! Tickets are $10. Remember, if you pay for your guests spectrum tickets by Tuesday, May 8th (extended deadline by a day), $4 from each ticket sale will go into your band account! Example, if you have 4 guests ($40 for tickets), then $16 of that will go into your band account! - We will have full symphonic band rehearsal on Monday AND Tuesday from 2 to 5pm! - Pit orchestra rehearsal on Monday, from 6-8pm. - Spectrum Dress rehearsal (all band and guard members required to attend) on Wednesday from 2-5:30pm! This rehearsal is crucial! - Spectrum is on Thursday! Student call time is 6:00pm, doors open at 6:30pm, concert begins at 7:00pm! Tickets may be purchased at the door! - Band banquet Money and RSVP cards are due by Friday, May 11th in the drop box in the band room! Invitations will be passed out to freshman and color guard tomorrow! Remember, seniors are free, regular band students are $7 and all guests are $10 each! - Executive leadership videos are due to Mr. Wiley by Friday May 11th! Leadership interviews will take place NEXT Monday and Tuesday in band classes. Times will be posted this week! - Wind Ensemble auditions will take place next Wednesday and Thursday in band classes! Please prepare NOW! - leadership auditions will take place after school next Monday and Tuesday! Times will be posted this week! -Band banquet is Saturday May 19th! Make sure seniors have submitted slide show pictures, song choices, as well as post graduation plans to Mrs. Matthews if you haven’t already!! The end of the year is extremely close! Dress code is: elements show shirt, comfortable shorts and shoes. No volley ball style shorts will be permitted. No bathing suits, and no extremely tight shorts. It is recommended to bring some snacks for the bus, and possibly a change of socks/a towel for water rides.
